Dear Friends of the Pumpkin Fair,
Welcome to the 50th Soham Pumpkin Fair!
The fair has been running since 1975 and last year we were able to give away a total of £5,000 to the Soham Roller Hockey Club, Soham Brigade, 1st Soham Brownies and
4th Soham Brownies.
This year's beneficiaries are St. Andrews Church Restoration Appeal, Soham North Chapel Charitable Trust, Soham Youth Takeover and Elysian Riding for the Disabled and our
theme is ‘It's Our 50th Birthday!’.
In the morning, we will be busy booking in entries for our various competitions: Pumpkins, sunflowers and other produce outdoors, arts and crafts indoors - look on our website
or pick up our brochure to see what you can enter!
Then in the afternoon we open to the general public for viewing. Our fair will be formally opened and our first event of the afternoon is a Fancy Dress Competition based on our
theme.
Ferret racing returns in our Arena this year. This always very popular with the crowds, but there is a serious side too - when they attend events, they represent the society as a
ferret rescue, welfare and re-homing organisation. We will also have Arena Displays by various local groups.
We are also delighted to have David Palmer back again this year, regaling us with his auctioneering skills. He will do his very best to encourage you to bid ever higher for our
lots on offer. For those of you who don't know him, David is an experienced auctioneer and has also appeared on several TV programmes including Flog it, Bargain Hunt and Cash in
the Attic. So, dig deep into those pockets and bid for the interesting lots we have on offer. See our website and Facebook page for more details nearer the day.
There will also be Vintage Vehicles, Bygones, Charity Stalls, a Funfair, Refreshments and our Prize Giving Ceremony to round off the afternoon.
We look forward to seeing you all there!
Best Wishes
